The Industrial and Commercial Risks unit (known by its Portuguese acronym, RIC) expanded its portfolio of clients in 2006 and perfected the electronic services that strengthen its competitive edge in this market segment. Two other important actions were taken in this business unit in the last year: management team was established and an agreement was signed making Axa Corporate Solutions the marketing representative of the unit.

Throughout 2006, SulAmérica increased its profits and broadened its portfolio, winning new accounts and reformulating the rules for subscription of some segments.

The company improved innovative services of the company, such as Perícia Online and Inspeção Online (expertise online and inspection online), which streamlined the operations of disaster control and risk acceptance, respectively. Clients cited the excellent results obtained with these systems in the satisfaction survey of 2006. Compared with the 2004 satisfaction survey, clients’ perception increased substantially regarding the speed with which SulAmérica handled disaster and risk acceptance procedures.

To strengthen the performance of the company in this segment, SulAmérica created in 2006 a management team for RIC, linked directly to the vice-presidency for RIC. Among the team’s principal responsibilities are the development of new products and services to offer innovative products and solutions for clients and insurance brokers.

Another highlight was the signing, in June, of an agreement with Axa Corporate Solutions, of the French Axa Group, to serve as marketing representative. With this partnership, Axa Corporate Solutions—and its international clients—will now benefit from the long experience, credibility and extensive outreach of SulAmérica in the Brazilian market of insurance for catastrophic risks. The success of this partnership was confirmed immediately, in the second half of the year, through several new insurance contracts that were won thanks to the commitment of the two companies to raise the satisfaction of corporate clients and their respective insurance brokers.

In 2006, the portfolio of Industrial and Commercial Risks achieved revenues of R$ 546 million in premiums, provided 3 thousand responses of 24-hour service and paid out R$ 443 million in indemnities.
